STEF-TFE signs with EDF Energies Nouvelles an innovative agreement in food logistics
Francis Lemor, Chairman of STEF-TFE and Patrick Charignon, Director of EDF EN France in charge of roof-array activity, signed on March 25 a Memorandum of Understanding to equip several sites with photovoltaic power plants. This is the first multi-site agreement signed in the food logistics sector.
This MoU underlines the willingness of STEF-TFE and EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN) to establish a partnership to install about ten photovoltaic plants on the roofs of STEF-TFE’s existing or future
buildings. The plants will be owned by EDF EN.
On this occasion, Francis Lemor, President of STEF-TFE said: "STEF-TFE has adopted sustainable development practices for many years. We aimed to build a global partnership to enhance our under used roofs and equip about ten buildings with photovoltaic panels in France within the next two years. Francis Lemor added: "Other projects are under consideration, particularly in Spain and later on in Italy and Portugal. Enhancing the value of our real estate in France and in Europe has historically been a key element of our development. It enables us to support our customers and to continually increase our expertise in cold logistics real estate. Today, with solar power, we are entering a new stage which needs the expertise of a professional player like EDF EN to implement a long term development program".
EDF EN has temporary exclusive rights on feasibility studies for installing solar power plants on nine sites belonging to French STEF-TFE, with about 60 000 square meter of roof area. Once built, the plants will be run by EDF EN under a building lease for a minimum of 20 years.
STEF-TFE will remain responsible for the roof structures of the buildings. EDF EN will invest in the solar panels and pay rent.
This protocol is particularly innovative for the overall financing package developed to ensure that the partnership will lead to investments in every region where STEF-TFE operates. This sustainable development strategy will therefore cover the whole country.
